I've gone back via emulator - there wasn't as much cool stuff as I remembered. Even the games are kinda lackluster compared to my memories of them.I went Atari 1200XL, Atari 130XE, and finally Atari Mega ST2...then I went Mac and PC (PC for gaming, Mac for writing)
I'm using this:The RG350 handheld retro emulator. Got MAME, 8-bit computers (Atari & C64), and up to the PS1 in consoles. It's great having a portable system...but the 3.5" screen is hard on my old eyes for Atari 800 screens and other detailed graphics.Luckily, it has HDMI out...but they're still working on the drivers, so things can get wonky.
I've got the RG350, and it's pretty good quality. They've got a newer version the RG350M, which has a metal shell and 640x480 screen, and is pretty much the best retrogaming handheld at the moment...but there's an RG351 coming, and the RG350P was just released, and...well, you get the idea.Still, the RG350M is a really solid piece of equipment, and I'd have no problem recommending it for MAME/GB/PS1/SNES...etc.
Cool! I do like my RG350 - let me know when yours arrives.
